Find the connection for the keyboard contacts, and put them in series
with the printer (solenoid coils.)

For the machine to just "talk to itself" all you need is the loop supply
to provide the current to operate the solenoid. The keyboard, if it is
connected, will provide the local signal. I.e. you see what you type.

An ST-6 will certainly do that. There are a number of different terminal
unit out there.

Like I said, welcome to the group.
Someone here will point you to where the wiring documentation and
other information you'll need is stashed.
