Thanks everyone for the info, all good stuff.  I guess I should have asked
about existing over the air broadcasts first, I assumed there would still be
ample ones to choose from.  Of course, I'm not surprised either that there
are fewer and fewer these days.  

I do like the idea of a "local" broadcast, might be a cool experiment.
Other than that, maybe I need to focus more on getting ITTY working and
enjoy that first.  Just thought it would be really cool to get true over the
air RTTY from vast points around the globe!

This is a noble goal, but there is a problem.

There are very very few over the air broadcasts of teletype signals.

Other list members will have much better information, but I know of only a
few UN-encryped signals:

- there are occasional RTTY contests on the ham bands, but the operators are
almost all using "glass teletypes": that is, totally computerized systems
with not a single metal machine on the premises.  The combination of the
contest-content-only exchanges and failure to send CR and Linefeed make for
frustrating copying for heavy metal machine users.

- a weather broadcast from some other country - Canada.  Here is info from
2005:

- ARRL broadcasts on W1AW.  Here is up to date information from:

Digital Transmissions

Frequencies are 3.5975, 7.095, 14.095, 18.1025, 21.095, 28.095 and 147.555
MHz.

Bulletins are sent using 45.45-baud Baudot, PSK31 in BPSK mode and MFSK16 on
a daily revolving schedule.

- I have a modest collection of graphic tapes, at least half of which is in
the hands of Tom Tilson who is putting them out via some magic over the
internet on saturdays.  Due to "family events",  I have not been able to put
together a station to broadcast them via real live radio waves.  I hope to
do so eventually, though with a Valiant or S-line, Dovetron, and real Heavy
metal machines.
