No.  The pre-war DC ships, for radios, normally used either dynamotors or 
motor-generators to transform the ships service 115 or 230 VDC to either a 
higher or a lower voltage, but still DC.  A few sets, mostly radars and 
repeaters, also used either inverters or motor generators to supply AC for things 
like servos and sweep.
