I sure don't claim to know - but Xerox bought Scientific Data Systems which
had
a very popular time shared computer system. The machines were
rather similar
to the IBM 360 line; I don't know if they used ASCII
or EBCDIC. But possibly
you have a console terminal from a
Xerox
computer.
