We've all heard and shared various "previous owner" horror stories.
I thought I'd add one that wasn't.

About eight years ago I picked up what was presumably a 455 KHz
panadaptor. Condition unknown, and built into a 10-1/2 rack cabinet.
A couple of week ago I figured, "Let's see if it works." I plugged it in
and got a nice sharp dot in the middle of the CRT. Of course, no sweep
and no positioning controls.

I opened up the cabinet and I find the October 1960 CQ Magazine the
guy built it from.

That was a VERY nice gesture to leave that inside.

After fixing the 325 v B+ source, it appears to work rather well.
