That was 15 years ago. These days vendors don’t seem to reduce reduce the price on a re-list…

Not to be +pedantic+, but it's the bidders - rather than the sellers - that set the prices we see on the 'bay. 

True story: 15 yrs. ago, a seller had (5) of the Moog Song Composer kits for the C-64, all NOS / NIB. I wanted one.. so I sat back and watched the action. It went something like this..

#1 - $325

#2 - $315

#3 - $245

#4 - $175

#5 - $85

I picked up #5.. ;-)

That might explain things like the "$1400 WWII Bell System teletype” and similar situations for products people find in old barns and attacks and have no idea what they are worth. 

I personally dislike the “or reasonable offer” option. If a reasonable offer is $50, these overpriced sellers get insulted. If they ask $$700 for something, they think reasonable is $650. 

I love it when someone starts a bid at $0.99 and lets the market set the value.

Yes, eBay can be a terrible place sometimes. But most times it is ok.

Hi Dave,

I don't think you can blame eBay, its the vendors that set prices too high in the first place.

I was interested in a 300-0-300 mains transformer that had a starting bid of £48 but in my view this is too high for a used item. 

The 7B does look good but I reckon he should at least move the decimal point one place left to be nearer the mark.

I think £100 for the 7B & 6S/6M.

I see he also has a Creed 75 with a 115v governed motor but without paper tape facilities although it is dual speed. 

He is asking £500 'Buy it now' but I think £100 is more likely to sell it.

that's just my idea of course and others are welcome to have their own values.

The vendor obviously thinks the price is high, but by saying "nearest offer" they have turned it into a blind auction where you know you are going to get ripped off....

... any thoughts on what a reasonable price for this would be. It does look immaculate...
