Sounds like you have a type basket with the "fractions" symbols instead
of the "communications" or "punctuation" symbols.  There are actually
three different sets of FIGS case characters: punctuation, fractions, and
weather symbols.  The type pallets can be changed, but it is rather
tricky work.  Probably the easiest thing to do is wait for a Model 15
up for grabs to come along that has the communication charcter set and
swap type baskets.  (and of course a typing unit only would be fine for
your purpose, or even one with broken parts so long as they are not in
the type basket)
