I spent my senior-school holidays years as an offsider to a liftie.  And 
believe me, there is nothing quite like sitting atop the cage, squirting 
the rails, as the counter-balance comes down just a few feet from your 
head...

Even more fun when in a multi installation.

And please, don't even get me started on hydraulic lifts, and their filthy 
pits...

Believe me, I can tell some stories.
