I remember reading as a kid a sci-fi book about someone who traveled
to an artificial satellite of Earth so he could use a computer there.
Describes the huge vacuum tubes.  It was on a satellite to get enough
solar power to run the thing, and to dissipate the heat it generated.
Apparently radio hadn't been invented yet, so he had to go to the
satellite to use it.
