That one looks pretty decent. The "buy it now" price is a tad high but
not overly so for one of those in prime shape. I found an 8000A on eBay
last year that was actually brand new in the original HAL shipping
cartons that had been located in a warehouse full of them that NSA or
the Military intelligence services had sold off. I picked it up off
eBay for $500 including shipping. When I got it, the cartons had NOT
been opened since HAL had sealed them back in the early 80's and the
original humidity indicator strips were still blue as well. It had
military type connectors on the back that I changed out for RCA jacks
for PTT and the AFSK audio in/out plus a couple of DB-9 connectors for
the RS-232 in/out and "order wire" remote control connectors. The guys
at HAL were kind enough to send me the right internal connectors to make
up the necessary cabling to my own back panel connectors as well. They
still have their DSRTTY-WIN program available which will run Baudot with
it. This thing will run any shift but anything other than ASCII
encode/decode has to be done in external software. Using DSRTTY-WIN it
seems t do a much better job of decoding standard RTTY than the older
ones though.

I haven't seen one of these listed for quite some time.

If you haven't seen the 8000A, take a look at the pix of my operating
desk on QRZ. It's on the right hand side of the shelf.
