My last contact with a model 35 was in around 1973,
but just thinking about the mechanics, this looks
like something that would be caused by a lubrication
problem.  The typebox is not moving into position
fast enough to be fully settled before the hammer
slams into it.  Slightly gummy oil, it seems, could
do this.  Has it been oiled with 3-in-1 household
oil?  That's a common way to gum things up.
