I use Singer sewing machine oil. That's some "mighty fine" stuff. The
difference between Singer and 3in1 is that Singer uses hydrotreated
heavy paraffinic based oil. 3in1 uses hydrotreated heavy napthenic oil.
The Singer oil doesn't turn to crap like the 3in1 oil does.

Actually it does. I use WD-40 as a cheap coating for my milling machine
bed/work table. As it evaporates, it leaves a thin film on the metal.
However, when it's time to use the machine, I clean it off with a fresh
spray of WD-40 and wipe it clean before using.
