[GreenKeys] Telephoto machines?

There were 2 large format fax machines in our ANG comm vans for
weather map reception. Originally Teledeltos
roll paper was used with a width of 19.5" using 3 styluses on a
toothed belt. Made for a somewhat smoky and stinky comm van
during use if the operator forgot to turn on the vent fan. I
installed two conversion kits that replaced the Teledeltos paper system
with carbon paper and regular paper again in rolls with small
solenoids on the belt. The quality of the image with the new system
was not as good as with the Teledeltos paper but still easily readable.

I also purchased some deskfax machines and paper back in the 70s or
80s with a friend and myself sending cartoons back and forth over
the phone lines. A negative of a normal cartoon makes for a lot of
smoke :). Also built a one transistor fax converter
and successfully copied some
images off of the air. One was from a ham that had obvious hum bars
on his signal. Sent him a post card mentioning his problem
and it turned out that he was the one that designed and wrote the
article for the converter I was using. Small world.
