I believe the 804A is just the telephone/control interface
for a separate modem. You need a Bell 103-type
unit.

Subject: [GreenKeys] 804A Data Auxiliary Set
I'm looking for original alternatives to adding a modem to an ASR33 and
someone I know says they came across a model 804A DataPhone. From what
little info I've bene able to dig up so far it's not a 101/202 series
Dataphone in that instead of a phone connection and an RS-232c interface it
has a single 50 pin centronics connection which could go to just about
anything. I know for a fact that Teletype had some level of support for a
"data set" that used a 50 pin centronics cable but they enver went into any
details. It might or might not also be private line, or not even 110 baud at
all whish isn't what I need. I'm curious if anyone knows much else about
this modem. Anyone?
-John
