Single current is what Yanks would call Neutral, and double current would be called Polar. I'm still trying to figure out what the Motorcycle Messenger says to the Message Clerk at the end of the video. It sounds like he says "Wire Hound". Any guesses? What a clever model of a Creed Model 7!. It shows the complicated way
the bellcranks select the letters, but it's a pity it doesn't mention
the start/ stop synchronisation.

It also implies single current working, but as far as I know the British
Post Office always used double current polar working.

I hope BT Heritage will be uploading more of their historic films. They
covered the telephone and postal service as well. I look forward to
seeing more of them.
Their YouTube channel is at

Cheers,
Sam
