Hi all...
Been reading the posts on Nick's situ with selector errors
and short range on his LPR...
There are many things that can cause this problem...
As has been mentioned, the adjustments in the selector
armature area are very critical, especially at the higher
speeds...
One thing that shud be checked, however it involves
removing the selector magnet ass'y. from the back plate...
The mounting tabs (With the screw holes) on the rear
of the armature itself, check for a broken tab...This is a
common problem especially if the unit has been run with
too much armature spring tension for extended time...
Also, check for wear at the tip of the armature extension
where it contacts the start/stop lever...Check for
a "Notched" type of wear pattern in this area...
Another critical adjustment is where the mark/space
lock lever pases below & above the armature extension...Check here for a
wear pattern...
Sounds remote, but possible, if the selector
magnets are wired in "Parallel", check to see if one of them
is open, i.e. unit running on one only magnet...
Lastly, the armature may be "Old style" with no anti-seize
buttons...Later armatures had this like the 35's...
Good luck...Hope this helps...
Cheers!
