GN OMs;
Great find, Mark!
I recently restored a Teletype mode 35-KSR that was in storage
since 1985. A 35-KSR is pretty-much like a 28-KSR.
First, open the dome (top cover) and look on the right side
of the machine. On the base you will see the motor. It has a
large aluminum fan on the end of its shaft. Looking at it
from standing on the right hand side of the machine, you
want to put you finger in the dimple on the fan and turn
it counter-clockwise - so that the "top" of the wheel turns
toward the front of the machine.
It should turn fairly freely. You will notice some drag on it
as the mechanism loads up to fire the hammer, and then once
the hammer fires, it will turn really easy again.
If that happens, you're in pretty good shape. The 35-KSR
I had didn't want to turn - so I had to spend days putting
drops of oil all over the place the get it to work properly
BEFORE I put the juice to the motor.
Wait for some of the experts on here to tell you how to
properly lube the machine. If they don't, I'll tell you
how I've been doing it for 40 years (and I *KNOW* that
get some flak for that!).
BTW: You have access to all the manuals you could ever
need right here on the GREENKEYS group. That includes
the maintenance manual that will tell you how Teletype
says it should be done. Just ask for the URL.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made A LOT of people very angry
and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
