[GreenKeys] 28 printing reperf hammer redux

I have three new/unused 173979 typing perf/reperf hammer heads sitting
here in a bottle on my radio bench.

I have periodically pondered as to the best way to reproduce them.

Considering the advances that have occurred in 3D printing, I am
convinced that that would be the most economical method coupled with
fast turn around in getting the problem resolved.

The originals as I recall the days when they were readily available
appeared to be made of a material similar to DELRIN, which is often used
for cushioning in things like high-speed valves and piston assemblies.
It would take millions of whacks and suddenly decide it was time to
retire and upon the next whack would turn into a brown dust.

I had this happen one time while preparing a 28 ASR for shipment to my
friend Ted Minchen, ZL1MT. The punch was doing great when suddenly it
had a harsh, metallic "CLACK" coming out of it. It took but a couple of
minuted to see what had happened. I did have some spares and got it
going quickly.

The hang up as I see it is that there MUST be found a suitable, long
lasting durable elastomer available that would be readily adaptable for
cloning these remaining specimens.

VETCO electronics in Bellevue, WA. markets a 3D printer for around 425
dollars, so I am certain getting production of these items would be
comparable to having a twinkie or two.

Is there anyone on the greenkeys list who has any experience in
exploring for a tough, resilient material that could take the beating
the originals did, and could be easily microformed into something that
would pop right onto the punch hammer arm??

I am getting my CAD system back into operation, and will draft some
detailed, enlarged prints ready for deployment to any worthy entity
willing to meld the past, present, and future into a beloved pile of
these little gems.

Comments and suggestions welcomed.
