[GreenKeys] Under 40?! Call out for age...

Good advice for the collectors out there.    We need to get out estates in order.   I have started a photo album for my stuff with a description and value of each item.     We should designate a destination for our equipment.  Most every city has a local computer or technology museum of sorts, and there are larger well established ones across the country that would be interested in a donation.     Or at least a record and estimated value of each item so our families will have something to fight over.    I have tracked down equipment just to have someone tell me they scrapped it or threw it away because they thought it had no value.    It makes me sad when an elderly person dies and their family parks the dumpster in the driveway….

I originally posted it when I was discussing with another member about  making sure teleprinter

equipment survives past one dying, that discussion came about from another discussion on

the model 37 that just sold on Ebay.

I've been working on my estate, and want to make sure that things of value do not become

E-waste, and get scrapped as such. Not only the T&M (test and measurement) stuff, but

the Teletypes, specially the 37 and the three 35's which should first go to or at least be

offered to museums, then to collectors. Not having anyone to pass the estate on to, the

only thing important to me is what is considered collectable, goes to someone or someplace

that will at least try to make sure it does not become scrap.

Commercial Break: Everyone should think about this no matter what your age is. I've now

had three friends die before 60, One had a heart attack at 47. He was a health nut, exercised

all the time, yada, yada, yada. Back to the show ....

It got me curious. So many of us got bitten by the TTY bug at an early age. Myself got to

operate a model 15 at the age of 10. Had my first machine at 16, and at 20 filled a pickup

truck with a dozen  "demilled" 33's, and turned that truck load into 5 working machines.

I'll go first. I'm 56, grew up around model 15's and forgot them completely 

when I was in high school. I rediscovered all this when I turned 54. So I am

slowly returning to childhood!

I'm probably the youngest Greenkeyer. That being said, if it is indeed so, 

would make me the "cub", and the go-fer for the rest of you guys. What 

better place to be, than lowliest of all, and student of all... I may not have 

come from your era, but I can continue the madness!

OK. Any others? It can't be any more embarrassing. I waded in first!
