GM OMs;
I had a general class when I joined Air Force MARS.
I was 16 years old in 1968. I'm 63 now.
I was invited over to one of the Net Control Station Ops' shack.
He showed me a 15 and 19. He took the covers off of them. Then,
he put them in local loop and we had a QSO. Then he punched some
tapes of our QSO and played them.
It was like uncut heroine!
He introduced me to some of the younger guys who helped me get
a 15. There was almost NO ONE around who knew much. They told
me to build the T.U. in the ARRL Handbook. I got it working on
receive. A few weeks later I was transmitting.
I was hooked!
