Hi
The “how” side of these little boards is fairly simple:
They buy parts at 1/5 to 1/10 what we pay for them. The boards are fab’d for
10 or 20 cents a piece. Assembly is cheap. They have a much larger internal market of
experimenters than we do. Ageragate build volumes are fairly high. Since it’s all “internal
market” goods when shipped outside the country, the government helps out on shipping.

If you head over to the USB version of these things. Be very careful. You need a driver
to make a USB chip work and not all of the chips they pick up surplus have easy to
find (over here) drivers. There are way to many combinations of operating systems,
OS versions, chip vendors, chip versions, chip clones and languages to keep all the
bases covered all the time.

It even had a led or two on it so you could see if the data lines were doing anything. I don't see how they can make the whole thing and ship it for less than the parts. They usually take about 2 to 3 weeks to get here from China. Often about 2 .
