YEA!!!!!!! Very good Gil. This is AWESOME!! the auto motor is well
needed when used in museum demo application.

Maybe add 20 or 60 mil option? or you probably already have. that
was a 33/ or a 15 2 different loop currents.

what is the ETA!?

Hi Mike:

I am actually designing a new unit (which I have not officially announced,
but hinted at). So let me give a quick overview.

- wifi (optionally bluetooth) interface, so no cable to the
computer/tablet/phone
- 2 separate loops (maybe 4 as an option)
- loops can be set to 60/66/75/100-wpm baudot or 110/300-baud ascii
- one loop can be logically connected to another to convert speeds between
machines
- all the speed conversion and ascii/baudot conversion is done
automatically

- auto motor powering

- SD card to store files you want to print as demos (jfk news reports,
whatever)
- open source so you can tweak it as you like

- current prototype is using a teensy 3.1 (may change, but it is awesome)

This is an evolution of my old TTY-CONNECT design from a decade ago. I
also plan to have an adapter for folks would built one of those up and want
to use the loop sections.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Current Loop to RS232 with baud rate and character
conversion

Hi,

I’m thinking of building a small micro-controller based dongle that will
convert from current loop to RS232 and also capture data and retransmit at a
baud rate and character encoding more acceptable to current generation
PCs. So it would:
convert current loop to RS232
convert baud rate from 45 or 110 to 9600 or 19200
optionally convert BAUDOT to ASCII

I think, with this dongle, any modern generation PC with a basic terminal
program and RS232 dongle could probably be used as a substitute teletype.

Before I invest any energy in such a project, does anyone know of anything
already out there that does this?
Are there any good descriptions of a general purpose current loop to RS232
floating around? I would preferably want to support both 20 ma and 60 ma
current loop.

regards,
Mike Willegal
