Subject: [GreenKeys] Model 33 Teletype Restoration Update and Request for Part(s)
Keys,
Well, the 4x Model 33's are finally safely in Coral Springs, FL. My son and I drove an Econoline 350 1,478 miles from Coral Springs to Rutland VT to pickup the '269, '369, '789 and '614 machines. Then we drove to MA to pickup two Decwriter III's in storage and finally 1,400 miles back to FL. Total round trip mileage was 3,000 +/-. If that is not an obsession, I don't know what is. Everything survived well, in spite of I-95 through NY and NJ, which in my opinion are now no longer driveable - they have patches on the patches - certainly not wasting any of the ~$80 in tolls we paid on road repair. I had one power resistor vibrate its land and trace off the 181823 ckt board in the '789 machine and a few other minor issues but overall, the trip was a success. I should have the plastics restoration work finished by the end of August and will post some photos. Again, thanks to Wayne for his awesome work on the 4 printer, punch and reader units!
Parts Request: I found this guy on the web who can restore the rubber on the platens. I would like to send one up to him to see if it is for real. Does anyone have a spare platen (P/N: 185814) they would sell me (or donate to the cause).

Please contact me off-list if you have a part that I could test restore, I don't want to risk any of my existing platens, and they are all in very good shape anyway. Just want to see if this process works.
thanks.

P.S. I have the diecut oil foam pads finished and will offer those to list members soon. Also working with a company to reproduce the original red-phenolic paper tape spindles.
