Keith:
I have used some of the citrus-based degreasers as I was able to pick up a 5 gallon sonic cleaner from a company going out of business. I just buy the stuff a harbor freight and not some of the more expensive ones.
Ran a M28 Typing Re-perf, a TT-4A and a M28KSR through it in sections and it came out very, very clean. I run the cleaner at 104F and for about an hour.
Really looks nice when done, BUT you REALLEY have go back and re-grease/oil EVERY thing when done as all the old oil and grease is removed. It even took the grease out of the gear box on the TT-4A which I was not able to do in the Army!!

I've had the best luck with mineral spirits. I've tried citrus-based degreasers, Simple Green, denatured alcohol, and none of those worked as well as mineral spirits. Of course, if Perc (TCE) was still available, that would be my first choice, but it's not good for you or the environment...
I'd love to hear from other list members what's worked for them.
Keith
