[GreenKeys] Black "Crackle" paint

Folks,

 

I recently received some Creed equipment in rather bad shape. Among the
items was a Creed 45 Perforator which was especially sad. After lots of
oiling and cleaning it "just about" works, and am sure that after a little
more Tender Loving Care it will function 100%. However the paint is flaking
away from the castings. (I think some are aluminium, some steel/iron). Sadly
I think the only solution is to re-paint them, but as I am not good at
painting what do folks suggest. Originally they were a black crackle type
finish. Is Black Hammerite a good replacement?
