These were used in the central office as  distribution amps for music on 
customer tel lines as requested.  I have a  couple of them here also, had 3 at 
one time that were removed from an old 1E  switch office when it was 
converted to Digital about 20 years ago.  The  jacks on the front are for either 
inserting a signal or reading a signal,  depending on which way you want to 
test.  Great 600 ohm line dist.  amps.  Run off of 120Vac.
