Hey gang,

I have to share this story that happened with my 7 year old tonight. She has a 'history project' due in the morning and my wife and I were helping her to choose a good topic (to present to her class), that she could both explain and understand. My wife suggested a fiber arts themed project, a knitters spindle. My daughter said no. What did she want? Something to do with teletypes. "Sure!", I said. "Let me go out to the shack and get some things". I brought back a nice stack of punched tapes (reperforater) and some Christmas Art. "Perfect!", she said. I copied some pictures, she wrote a basic description. My wife helped her practice her speech. "Which punched tape should I take, daddy?" she asked. "I don't know, just pick one that you can read the typing on the tape." "OK", she said. She unraveled the tape and began to read what the M14 had printed. "In other news, Playboy Playmate Ju.." My wife and I snapped to attention. "No, sweetie, probably not that one, here, let's find a better one." Without skipping a beat, the 7 year old shrugged and said "OK". I picked a nice, unremarkable story where nothing exciting happened. That would have been an interesting parent-teacher conference.
