I've had a message forwarded from Maurie Challoner at MOTAT in New
Zealand looking for some help with a Creed Model 75 teleprinter.

The message is reproduced below. I've never owned a 75.

Can anyone help?

Hi and greetings from N.Z.

I am a member of the Telecommunications section at MOTAT (Museum of
Transport and Technology) in Auckland.
I have drawn the short straw and have been made responsible for
teleprinter and teletype machines here. I have
no technical experience with these machines, having been an operator
only. We do not have technical staff in this field.

One of our Creed Model 75 machines has developed a printing fault and
requires specialist knowledge to clear it,
the manuals making no mention. The machine was running OK until the
securing clip for a ribbon spool became
detached, with the result that the spool fell into the machine and the
ribbon became entangled in the works. The
type head carriage has been removed to assist cleanup and has been
re-installed twice, carefully following the manual.

The fault is that a permanent first unit (hole 1) signal is present in
the locally generated signal and the received signal,
i.e. letter Z appears for T and J for R etc.

I would appreciate your help in being able to contact a person who might
be able to help solve this problem.

Regards
Maurie Challinor
