I remember being told that they were "orange sticks" but in the CO and 
other places i worked we called them "spudgers".  Think i still have one 
or two of them around here stuck into a jar that also holds other 
outdated tools.  I've crafted some of them out of bamboo sticks that 
were supposed to have been for eating chinese food. Doesn't take long 
with a knife to trim the ends of them as needed.
