First, to everyone who responded, Thank You.

OK - here's what I'm going to do to remove the anomalies:

o Write a program that runs for 60 seconds and counts
   how many characters have been sent.

o Set the stopbits to 1 (I can't do 1.5 - only 1 or 2).

o Send only 1 specific character - instead of a QBF or something.

o Use a character that it on the top row of the type box
   so there is no positioning of the type box involved (although
   that shouldn't matter because the machines don't slow down when
   they have to position the type box).

o Maybe test it with 1 and 2 stop bits, and then take the average
   so we'll be able to calculate a 1.5 stop bit.

IF anyone has any feedback for me (on this concept) let me know.

I have yet to see any problem, however
complicated, which when looked at in the right
way, did not become still more complicated.
