This past Wednesday I received a letter with the return address of
"RTTY/ITTY Enthusiast.
The contents were a brief letter citing that it was an opportunity to
"give-back" a small token of thanks for the efforts put forth to keep ITTY
going when things go kaput for whatever reason.
Others, both anonymous and beknownst to me, have over the years made similar
contributions and to all I say "Thank You So Much".
All things considered, ITTY has been and continues to be remarkably
successful even though it started out as brain fart and somewhat of a kluge.
Industrialist Henry Kaiser had a motto which read "Find a need and fill
it!", and that's what ITTY is - the filling of a need by what can be
considered as a very unique hobby enjoyed by individuals with broad
skillsets in a number of mechanical and electrical disciplines.
It affords for all who collect the assorted piles of different designs and
eras of teletype machines a source of signals for the sacred machines to
print after the great age of on-air rtty signals became history.
I also must thank those individuals such as our new contributor Thomas from
Phoenix, Wayne LeTourneau in the cold Minnesota wilderness, and Tom "Picture
Show" Tillson for their daily efforts at keeping ITTY Interesting.
Bill Bytheway, K7TTY, and soon Paul Heller, W2TTY, will share the unique,
top-secret, burn-before-reading ITTY software laboratory buried somewhere in
the Ukraine. Expect GREAT ITTY software improvements in the future.
Plans are in the works for the only known remaining RTTY net, the Pacific
Northwest's "RATTS" net, to be fed to the AUTOSTART Channel their nightly
goings on, 2000 hrs PDST. Net Frequency MARK freq is 3598.000 KHz, and
we'll get the TELNET capability going so that anyone in the world can be on
the air with them, from the W7TTY communications complex. More on this
later.
Once again, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for your support of ITTY.
Sincerely,
George - W7TTY - ITTY Central
