[GreenKeys] Why and When 7.00 vs. 7.42 unit code?

Well, my original question was essentially - why are half the Navy machines
7.00 and half 7.42? Was there really a wholesale switchover in 1965? If so
why are there some 7.42 machines with later designations than 7.00
machines? Like TT-47H is 7.00 and TT-47K is 7.42.
And why make the change and risk potential incompatibility - Doesn't sound
like a crypto thing since KW-26, etc. were 7.42?
I'm just puzzled (my natural state)
Related question is why are there 60, 75, and 100 wpm models - why were
some channels 100wpm and others 60wpm? Was it just a question of gradual
upgrading? What speed did the FOX broadcasts run?
