Also do not forget the cost of gasoline in the equation...
I have found that MOUSER and JAMECO are my best sources for parts.
DIGIKEY has more stock but they also have minimum quantities required.

At least you have that option.  No Fry's within hundreds of miles for  
me.
And I do occasionally find things I need at Radio Shack - was surprised
they had fuses of a size I needed, but they did.

Well maybe, but I can't see them selling much of that in stores like
theirs that are in towns as small as 5000
