[GreenKeys] Shortwave Receivers

That's how I wound up being an electrical engineer. It was 1956 and we were
in Norway - my father was there with NATO. At the time, we were living in
an apartment over the owner's part of the house. One night he fired up a
shortwave receiver and let me have the headphones. We were listening to the
north sea fishing fleet's nightly rag chew in Morse. I couldn't copy code -
I didn't even know what it was at the time but I was fascinated to hear the
the CW coming out of the night from small boats spread all across the North
Sea. I decided whatever it was, it was for me. It's been almost 60 years
and I still vividly remember that night.

GN OMs;

Me and my Dad went over to one of his fellow co-worker's
house for dinner. His fellow co-worker was an amateur
radio operator. I had no idea what that meant. After
dinner he took us out to the garage, pulled out a home-brew
regenerative shortwave receiver, connected a piece of "random wire"
to it, and fired it up.

There are no words in the English language to explain how
mesmerized I was!

Well - if you were a shortwave indoctrinate - here is a website for you:
