Well, it is just a matter of course that if you do any electronic work, your online vendors are the only option you have. RS has only stocked what their computers says gets sold in the stores and they cannot keep that seldom used 750K I watt resistor around. The electronics supply sources have evolved into almost totally internet or catalog, but other trades learned early on that they were killing their bread and butter. Brick and board hobby shops could not compete with online warehouses, folks would visit the shop to play touchy feelly and then go order on line. Realizing that they're sales were actually decreasing as real shops closed leaving only online places, because most folks wanted to see and touch before a purchase, many suppliers and manufacturers reacted by offering a bigger discount to brick and board stores than back bedroom or storage bay inventory with a website and WATS line. Hobby shops now can compete online also, much like the
large ham radio outlets do with store fronts and online sales. I think it is too late for RS to change though.
