Gkeys,
I just wanted to send out a quick update on some parts I am having fabricated for the Model 32/33.
The 50-cavity tool for the 180502 rubber cap has been completed and several first articles received. It turns out there appears to be some variation from hammer to hammer and we are having a little trouble optimizing the fit for "one size fits all". I will need to tweak the tooling, to find a single sized part that fits all hammers - some a little loose, some a little tight - but most of them dead on. We think we have zeroed in on the material - the test parts seem to be wearing quite well - and the external sizing of the part seems perfect. The problem appears to be where the part mates with the actual hammer. We are making progress and moving foward and I think an A+ tomorrow will be better than a B- today.
Special thanks to Wayne and Don for spending hours running these parts in machines - I am expecting a bill from each for the wear and tear!
Foam oil pads - production tooling completed and the first production reticulated pads are currently being tested. Material characteristics and color very close to original and fit is good. We should have these available in the next few weeks.
Paper Window - CAD drawing complete, awaiting quote from vendor.
Chad Box - CAD drawing complete, awaiting quote from vendor - having a little trouble finding a plastic with the proper "aged" tint. Closing in.
Silk Screen for T/R cover - if anyone needs to have their manual T/R cover rescreened (START, STOP, FREE), please let me know. I will be happy to send you a photo of my cover along with the contact information for the folks who did it for me up at Hanover Pen corp. in PA. Since the screen is already paid for and ready I am happy to see it get some use.
Nameplates - I have the CAD drawing complete and will be getting quotes on the front nameplates. If anyone would like the drawing, please email me and I will send it over to you in .pdf. I am planning on having about 50 made depending on cost. There is a company located about 6 miles from me that does laser cutting and sheet metal fabrication. I hope to see them later this week with the part and drawing. I will also ask Hanover to do a silk screen with the "T E L E T Y P E " and "LINE OFF LOCAL".
My frustration is that everything is taking more time then I would like but we are making progress.
thanks.
