David - Nice job I will look through our material here in the next
month as we shift stuff and see if we have anything typesetting related
you might want to add to your site.
Kudos! looks great!

Mostly because if I didn't do it now I'd never do it, I've integrated
three of those four Parkersburg WV newspaper phototypesetting / PDP-8
photographs into more permanent web treatments.
In the process, I decided that there ought to be at least a small image of
15-level tape somewhere on the web, so I scanned a bit. It's at the
bottom of this page, along with a 6-level TTS tape for comparison:
llery/index.html>
The page also has some photographs of a Mergenthaler Linofilm
font grid, for those who might be interested.
The use of two tracks of sprocket holes is interesting. Note also that
while the TTS sprocket holes line with the leading edge, the
Linofilm holes line with the center. I'm afraid that all I have is
one rather squashed roll of 15-level tape (pulled out of some pretty
serious wreckage), one font grid, and no equipment for it at all.
The photo of the PDP-8 is at:
tml>
(Click on the "Gallery" link.) I'll be donating the full-on view
of the PDP-8 to the SMECC, should anyone in the future ever need access
to the physical original.
I'd still like to determine the make of the three paper tape readers
in the photos on this page (on the PDP-8 and on the shelf above the
two Fairchild perforators).
Regards,
David M.
