[GreenKeys] M28 motor won't start

Thanks to everyone who replied!!

I'll have to pull the motor when I am at the Museum next Tuesday. Have
to find my right angle screw driver as this M28 has the three-speed gear
shift and it covers up the motor wiring screw terminals. (or maybe would
be easier to just remove the typing unit first!)

I'll check the relay contacts first. I noticed in Bul 295 that some
units had a spark suppressor across the contacts and other units used a
triac to do the start coil switching, so arcing of the relay contacts
apparently was a problem.

Tom - if the relay is the problem & I can't clean it up , I'll take you
up on your offer. THANKS!

Ed - I'm not in a big hurry for one. This M28 is the only one on
display at the Museum right now (though there are others in storage),
but this is the first winter that the Museum has been open, so not a lot
of visitors coming through. (Also not as much tourist traffic in upstate
New York at his time of year!)

If I need a new cap & Ed doesn't have one I'll order one from Grainger
or SurplusTraders. I'm not against tyraping a larger capacitor to the
motor chassis if I have to!

Steve - thanks for the info on the FSC # & SurplusTraders. I didn't
think there would be any of the original caps left around, so I didn't
bother to search for the TT part #.

Thanks again & Have fun,

Duncan
