[GreenKeys] HAL Made Receivers?

To Greenkeys:

At one time, HAL made Receiver SIMULATORS for training people how to use similar,
actual receivers from various manufacturers. They performed very much like the
receivers they simulate. The frequency and time of day will give results like an
actual receiver. QRM and QRN may have been 'adjustable' by an instructor. I saw
these items at Dayton several times, and Bill Henry gave me a brief demonstration.
(I think it was Bill!) You could turn the VFO and CW signals would change in
pitch and SSB signals would go from low rumbles to high pitched 'Donald Duck'
sounds and then disappear altogether, just as they would on a real receiver.

I can't think of anyone else than the Military who would want them, but I didn't
ask questions. Just an interesting gadget that probably cost a lot less than the
receiver it was simulating.

I am going to GUESS that the item on eBay is one of these simulators.

They worked from a microprocessor and HAL software to give the training results
needed to teach receiver operation. Conceivably, a trainee could move from one of
the simulators to 'the real thing' and do fairly well. At least that was the idea.

Any further inquiries should be addressed to Bill, who may monitor GreenKeys. I'm
certain he will be glad to fill in any blanks I left due to my failing memory.

Note on the rear view of the device, there is NO ANTENNA connector.
Just what appears to be 'data connectors' of some kind.

This is the first one I've ever heard of.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with them?

Tried to look it up but one site SMECC.org had something on it?s pages but when I went to the link it set off my avg antivirus so was unable to continue. Closed everything and tried again but the same result when I went to that page that had the HAL info.
