The UCC-5 is just a UCC-6 with Molex plugs with less pins I think.  They are not too common.  

When in Line mode, if you are using 4 wire, full duplex, the 32 needs to have the external device echo back the the send info.    If you are using half duplex, 2 wire, then you really have an unusual problem.  I will attach some UCC-6 info just for you help.  Just dont follow the exact pin or wire info.  I will look to see if I have a UCC-5 book but I dont think I do.  You may have the wiring diagram with a blue cover in your pedestal.  

If the 32 works in Local, you need to investigate the above.  There is a Line/Local relay, but dont go there yet.  Look for the easier answer.

I have a Model 32 which has a UCC-5 in private line configuration (no dialer or TT pad).  In line mode the selector locks up, the page printer prints, but the keyboard seems to be out of the loop.   The distributor turns when a key is pressed, but nothing is printed.
 
To further mystify this behavior things work as expected in local mode, except when loop current is applied keyed characters don’t print. 
 
I’ve be unable to find a UCC-5 wiring diagram.  Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  This unit bears the RCA logo, if that helps.
