Hi all...

Interesting comments from group abt this M15 w/unusual
cover...Wud be nice if an UP or AP teletype maintainer
could comment on this set up... This cover set up was
never used up here by Canadian Press (CP) or by
Broadcast News service...

Re: the 75 WPM chatter...I converted many of these units
back in the day, and the main modifications, were
gear set change, main bail (Printing) spring, and a different
main shaft clutch spring, painted yellow on one end, and
a different #5 bellcrank w/eccentic adjuster nut...

I believe the #5 bellcrank replacement was made lighter
to reduce mass, and to ensure positive codebar movement
of the 5th bit...As the speed increased, any lag in
codebar movement wud cause errors etc.

Usually, if the cct was direct on-line with no line relay, a
"Holding magnet" selector ass'y was installed to ensure
reliable operation...When it was necc'y. to use a typing unit
with "Pulling magnets", it was always installed with a line relay.

The 100 WPM units required further mods such as type bar spring changes,
different typebar backstop etc.

I have only seen one in operation, it was a wonder to watch,
it was teamed up with a 100 WPM M14 reperf...

Whole set up was later changed to M28 line!

Cheers!
