The mailbox cabinet on this web page is the common version I run into.

It is much bigger, (wider, taller, deeper) than the one you are familar with.

I'm not familiar with any other "mailbox" type cabnet than the one shown. We had most of our 14/15 equipment in these cabinets. They were very convenient to work on. Most of our printers were on full dux circuits and were in RO cabinets without the slot for a keyboard. But you could open the cover, roll the printer out and plug in a keyboard so you could tinker with the printer. The reperf's (all printing ones) where in cabinets of the exact same size but with a solid cover with only a tape chute. Most offices had these cabinets in a solid row side-by-side. The Operator's positions had perforators and a TD on a table. They had a jackbox so the TD could be cut in the send side of any ckt in the office. There was no copy made of the transmitted traffic. The character counter on the perf's had to be set right and working. I have a '15 printer in one of these cabinets - one with the keyboard slot. The typing unit is the last 15 I worked on - perofessionally I mean. I had overhauled it. New main shaft on up and had it in my shop as a spare . When we began to fill a dumpster with Teletype equipment I diverted this one (and other stuff) to my van. The Navy cabinet is more compact and has a separate base on rollers within the cabinet that gives service access. (as you can see in the third picture) I have one, they are quite nice and take up much, much less room than the WU mailbox. The price is now $250 so it's a bit more reasonable. Typing units are easy to find, a cabinet like this one, not so much. The cabinet is much wider and a crank wouldn't reach.
