The project was announced in October 1969 in RTTY Journal.

Approximately 160 Model 28 KSR machines were involved.

Thanks to the Northern California Amateur Radio-teletypewriter Society and
Western Electric.

It was the first time that any Model 28 gear was made available to hams.

Before that, the official policy was to smash any out-of -service equipment
during disposal.

Locally, Bell of PA would smash the Keyboard on one machine and the Line
Printer on the next unit. It made both machines junk and kept the Accountants
happy. As hams, we could take both machines and make a good machine out of
the two junked machines.

...and why was the project named Mouse? Irv's wife mentioned to Irv that
it seemed like a bunch of mice running after the cheese and while we call this
RTTY, the military calls it RATT. So, the project got named Mouse...

I have one of these machine at WA3FRP and it is assigned to copy the Autostart channel.
