Hello all

In the months following the release and delivery of the famous "Mouse Machines", Irf Hoff,
W6FFC, came up with some suggestions for making the machines a bit easier to use. Some of
those ideas were as much 'general information' as relating just to the Mouse Machines.

One suggestion involved removing two Function Bars and exchanging their locations. One was
for Line Feed, I think, and the other for Carriage Return. Making this exchange gave one
non-overline by providing a Carriage Return with each line feed character received, I think.

THIS WON'T WORK ON JUST ANY MODEL 28!! It worked on the Mouse Machines due to the way they
were originally 'spec-ed out' for the original users.

Thinking back to my Navy Radioman days, I remember how much time was spent in looking at
overlines in messages and trying to figure out what words were actually there. We didn't
always have a perf tape back up. It is really almost possible to go cross-eyed while
eyeballing overline text!

What bugs me now is that it would have been about a $5.00 cost to make all of our 28s work
with non-overline!

An examination of the Hoff articles following the Mouse Machine release will lead one to a
number of useful mods for the Mouse Machines in particular and for many 28s in general.
