[GreenKeys] request for TTY model 33 plastic casing

I had to repair my 33 cover. It had some damage in shipment when I bought
it and some previous damage and attempted repair from a previous owner.
They had used a black glue, perhaps JB weld which shows through to the top.
With a little scraping and sanding I was able to make it look better. I
found the best way to repair was with clear PVC glue (used for PVC pipe) and
a fiberglass cloth (available for car body repair). Clamp or tape the
plastic back together, lay the fiberglass cloth on the inside across the
crack and then blot the PVC glue on the fiberglass pressing it into the
softened ABS plastic. A small amount of the clear PVC glue should soak
into the crack and may ball up on the surface, but this can be trimmed with
a blade and sanded smooth. I put another coat of PVC cement on the
fiberglass to make a nice smooth patch on the inside. When it dries it
seems to be a good strong patch without making the crack too visible on the
surface. I have repaired the grey plastic case and the beige lid this way.

I mentioned to Steve at H4H that his best bet was to buy an old Telex 32 ASR
just for the cover. His blank UCC-6 cover will just fit over the dial and
push buttons to hide them. I know, I have done it once.
Cheapest way out of his dilemma.

I referred Jill McGraw after I was contacted by them seeking a case
replacement.
Since I did not have one I sent the information about the group to them
because I knew how helpful this group has been when it comes to tty parts.
I don't know if she has found one but I hope that if someone had one they
would consider parting with it.
I agree that probably a professional company that rents props should have
some kind of insurance against damage.
Thanks to all the group for any assistance they were able to provide her.

Love it .. i just cracked, when I was getting 33's for the price of scrap
steel it took quite a bit at the scrap yard to get a cover cracked like
that. .. id be calling a few auto body shops if i was that set directory
If anything wouldn't a prop shop make you pay some sort of rental insurance
