While we're sharing ignorant-teacher stories.

In the British equivalent of your 5th grade
our teacher set an oral class test where you had
to answer the first question with a word beginning
with 'A', the second with a word beginning
with 'B', and so on. Question One: "Name a
mountain range". I put "Appenines". Response:
"Take a half-point, Egan -- there's no mountain
range called that but you were probably thinking
of the Pennines." Sigh!
