Duncan - Yes please send more info on this to me off list.
The one thing I remember most about it was the fact it had a rotating
drum like a data products line printer did.
I have now idea how reliable it was, but the concept embodied in it's
versatility seems cutting edge....

AN/FGC-80 was Kleinschmidt Labs electronic TTY from c1966. It was mostly
electronic and could do 5-bit Baudot/Murray and also 8-bit ASCII. I saw
one in the Signal Corp TTY school in late 1966, they had just gotten one
in, but had not started teaching it yet.
At some point Kleinschmidt became a division of Smith Corona Marchant
(SCM). KLI was the major supplier of TTY equipment to the Army & Air
Force c1950-1980.
I'll send you (& anyone else interested) some info on the AN/FGC-80
directly (files too big for Greenkeys)
