Speaking of parallel operation, the AWA just got in a couple of M12
printing telegraphs. They are apparently parallel operation, but when
reading about the M12, RX & TX distributors are often mentioned. I
assume these distributors were for parallel to serial (& vice versa)
conversion. When did the standard change from parallel to serial data?
Late 1920s??

Got brave and put power to the M12 KSR (it had a new power cord). Both
motors ran and keyboard operated but printer did not run open. With
parallel operation, I guess printer would run closed until it got a
"print" command on the 6th bit??

One M12 is an RO and has an "Associated Press" label on it. The other
has the keyboard and is mounted on an iron table. Also at least one WU
21A and a TS-383 distortion test set. The mystery TT-36/GGA-1 was part
of this donation. Still unpacking boxes.

have fun,
