Dave,

Copied your info on the rubber hammer.  It sounds like the hammer used for your initial mold the was the Leigh or Canada version and they made it thicker on purpose.  Some of Leigh's parts were better made, for instance the lid w/window you are asking about was much sturdier than Teletype's.
