Well, he's got a point: sometimes you can sell the parts
easier and for more money than the whole unit.
I used to collect one specific laptop. At one point in time
the laptop was selling for $25.oo on eBay.
But if you could bide your time, you could sell the CDROM, the
DVD, the battery, and the HDD carrier for $10-20 EACH, the memory
for $50-100, and then list the laptop skeleton for parts (?).
If we were still in the hay-day of Teletype machines, I'd bet
that he could clean-up selling that 15 as parts. Heck - if you
are missing a keytop, and his are clean, he could probably get
$5.oo to $10.oo for the one "you just gotta have to complete your
model 15". :-)

Trouble strikes in "series of threes" - but when
working around the house the next job after a
"series of three" is not the fourth job -- it's
the start of a brand new "series of three".
